How to Komodo as Default File Editor in FileZilla
Komodo Edit is a powerful code editor by ActiveState. It’s used by many web developers and programmers worldwide. Komodo Edit is free to download and use. ActiveState has an IDE called Komodo IDE. Komodo IDE is not free, but it has more feature than Komodo Edit.

In this tutorial we will set Komodo Edit as the default file editor in FileZilla FTP Client.
This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to set Komodo Edit as the default text editor on FileZilla FTP Client on Ubuntu. To follow this tutorial, you need to have the following requirements:
- A computer with Ubuntu operating system installed.
- Komodo Edit text editor must be installed.
- FileZilla FTP client must be installed.
Let’s get started.
Step 1: Go to Unity dash and search “FileZilla”. Click on the launcher of FileZilla to open it.
Once FileZilla starts connect to a host.
Step 2: Click on the “Edit” menu from the top and click on “Preferences”.
Once the Preferences window opens go to “File Editing” as marked on the screenshot.
Now click on “Use custom editor:” and click on “Browse” as marked on the screenshot below.
Ubuntu file browser should open once you click on “Browse”.
Now it’s time to look for the Komodo Edit binary file. We’ve installed it on /opt/KomoEdit10/. So I am selecting it from the file browser.
Now go to the “bin” directory and select “komodo” binary file. Click on “Open”.
Now click on “Ok” as marked on the screenshot below.
Step 3: Now right click on a PHP file from the server, and click on “View/Edit”.
The file should open with Komodo Edit as shown on the screenshot below.
