ALLAH’S GLORIOUS NAMES
Mentioned everywhere throughout the chapters of the Quran
He has sent us down his names so we can understand and know our creator better
So, we can realize that no one can be Ar-Rahman or Ar-Raheem; so we can realize that the earth and the entire universe belongs to Al-Malik.
He has gifted us with his name so we are reminded constantly that he is Al-Jabbar (The-restorer) who can mend our broken hearts and when fear overcomes us and when we find no protection or solace in anyone,
We have Him (Al-Muhaymin) who protects and preserves our safety; who will protect us from all evil and harm.
He; the Almighty is Al-Khaliq (the creator) who created us and knows us best; knows our worries and sorrows; knows our darkness and light; knows what we need and what we want.
Allah created us, humans, by default; living beings who will eventually sin and make mistakes but the most Merciful told us that he is Al-Ghaffar (the forgiver), At-Tawwab (The ever pardoning), Al-‘Affuw (The pardoner) he forgives as if he never saw us committing any sin.
He honors or disgraces whomever he wills because he is Al-Muiz and Al-Mudhil.
Allah is As-Salaam (the embodiment of peace); He loves peace which is why he gave us ‘’Islam’’ a religion to follow. Living in the 21st century where social media is widespread it is difficult to not compare yourself with the ones you see online but one should be reminded that all of us are created by Al-Khaliq (the creator) and Al-Musawwir (The fashioner); his work has no flaws.
When life starts closing in you remember you have a lord who is Malik-Al-Mulk (The owner of absolute sovereignty); he shall open unexpected doors and ways because he is also Al-Fattah (the supreme solver) and Al Wahhab (The supreme Bestower).
He if intends will provide risk from unexpected sources because he controls this world, he is Al-Aziz (The almighty) and Al-Azeem (The Magnificent) and he is the only deity capable of providing provision hence his glorified name Ar-Razzak (The provider).
Al-Lateef (the most gentle) loves us unconditionally and helps us see the light amidst the darkness; he is Al-Mu’min (the infuser of faith) who grants the light of Islam within the hearts of those whom he loves.
When we lose track and sight of what is right, He, Ar-Rasheed (The guide) guides us and helps us differentiate between evil and good.
He is Al Quddus (the most sacred) and Al-Qahhar (The-All prevailing); whatever he wishes happens. Sometimes our plans don’t go as we expect or want them to go hence, we feel disappointed but we need to remember that Allah swt Al-Hakeem (The-All wise); his plan is the best of the best plans; He might delay in giving because he is Al-Mu’akhir (the delayer) but He Al-Wadud (The most loving); Al-Majeed (The glorious); Al-Jaleel (The Majestic); Al-Kareem (The most generous) knows whatever is best for his servant.
Allah the Exalted is Al-Aleem (The knowing); he knows about everything that goes on earth and in the universe; He, Ar-Rafi’ (The elevator) has raised the seven skies and has mentioned in his holy book of how just of a lord he is. In various verses of the Quran Allah mentions he is Al-‘Adl (the utterly just) and He is Al-Hakam (The impartial judge) who would never mistakenly punish an innocent being.
Humans live their day-to-day lives without realizing that they are accountable to their lord who is Al-Samee’ (The All-hearing), Al-Basir (The All-seeing), Al-Khabeer (The All-Aware), Ar-Raqeeb (The watchful), Ash-Shaheed (The All- observing and witnessing); who doesn’t miss one second of how we spend our lives but yet He is Al-Haleem (The most forbearing), who does not punish us immediately but extends his hand to help us and guide us; describing another one of his glorious name; Al-Basit (The extender).
He Al-Kabeer (The all headful and all-protecting) is Al-Qabid (the withholder) and Al-Mani’ (the withholder) who holds back whatever he wishes from us and is Al-Khafid (the reducer) who reduces whatever he wishes whether it is rizq, illness, etc. We should be thanking Allah (swt) day and night because he is Ash-Shakoor (The most appreciative) the one who deserves all the appreciation for all that he has bestowed upon us.
When we walk to Allah, he runs towards us because he is Al-Mujeeb (The responsive one), he has everything in abundance; he himself is Al-Wasi’ (The all-encompassing; the boundless) who doesn’t shy away from giving. Al-Alee’ (the most high) is the one we should obey and prostrate to. He sustains his laws and the universe as he is Al-Muqeet (The sustainer) and Al-Hafeedh (The preserver).
On the day of reckoning when all humanity will be dead, He Al-Bai’th (influencer of new life) will put back soul into each and every one of us bringing us back to life. On the day when every soul will be worried about their deeds and actions, He Al-Haqq (the absolute truth), Al-Muta’ali (The self-exalted), Al-Tawwab (The ever pardoning), Al-Ahad (The only one), Al-Wahid (The one) will forgive his servants with his mercy.
Allah is the king of the kings and he is Al-Qawyii (The All-strong), Al-Wakeel (The trustee), and Al-Waliyy (the protecting associate) and he can overpower anyone he wants. Our lord loves consistency and being steadfast because he himself is Al-Mateen (The firm, The steadfast) and he is the originator of life on earth Al-Mubdi (The originator) and Al-Muhyi (the giver of life) who creates and brings to life likewise he is the holder of souls and bring death to whomever he wills; Al-Mumeet (The inflictor of death). All things; living or non-living will die one day except Al-Hayi (The -everlasting) and Al-Mueed (The restorer).
Allah is Al Qayyum (The sustainer), and Al-Wajid (The perceiver) and he deserves all praises as he is Al-Hameed (The praiseworthy).
Al-Muhsee (the counter) knows it all and he deals with everyone in his own way. Nobody can question the Qadr of Allah; whatever he wills; happens. If he wants to enrich someone he shall as he is Al-Mughni (the enricher); if he wants to distress someone, he, does it as he is Ad-Dharr (the distresser); If he wills to benefit someone he commands and it happens as he is An-Nafi’ (The benefactor); If he wills, he guides his special ones as he is Al-Haadi and Ar-Rasheed (The guide). He the almighty is Al-Muqsit (The just one) who loves his servants and shows kindness towards them as he is also Ar-Raoof (the most kind) and As-Saboor (the forbearing).
Al-Baqi (the everlasting) and Al-Badee’ (the incomparable originator) are self-sufficient and need no help with any of the matters of heaven and the earth. Allah Almighty is the An-Nur (the light) of the heavens and the earth and he Al-Ghaniyy (The wealthy) has all the treasures of the earth and the heavens. He Al-Warith (the inheritor) will gather everyone on the day of resurrection as he is Al-Jaami’ (The gatherer) and grant the righteous their rewards.
Allah (swt) is Dhul Jalaaliwal-Ikram (possessor of glory and honor) who is Al-Muqtadir (The powerful) over the oppressors; he is Al-Muntaqim (the avenger). He hears us all and is As-Samad (The satisfier of all needs) the one who satisfies the hearts. He is Al-Wali (the governor) of those who have no one.
His glory is such that he is Az-Zahir (Manifested) through his extraordinary creation and at the same time he is Al-Baatin (the hidden) because no one has ever seen him.
He is Al-Awwal (The first) and he will be Al-Akhir (the last). He is glorified as Al-Barr (the source of all goodness) as he provides us with nothing but good.
