Create a USB Recovery Drive in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we will go through how to create a recovery drive in Windows 10.

If you failed login into Windows 10, Microsoft offers you multiple numbers of recovery and troubleshooting tools that can help you recover window. These tools are easy to use and access. In order to be prepared for such problem, you should create a Windows 10 Recovery Drive, for sure you will not regret creating such a recovering tool.

Windows 10 offer multiple solutions for making a recovery drive; you can create recovery drive on USB flash drive as well as on an optical disc. Both media offer same solutions, but each one created from a different place.

The USB flash drive version is created using Recovery option while the optical disc is created from the Backup and Restore program.

In next lines, I will show you both ways to create a Windows 10 Recovery Drive.

A recovery drive can help you troubleshoot and fix problems with your PC, even if it won’t start. To create one, all you need is a USB drive.

Note: if you made a recovery disk for windows 10 32 bit would not run on Windows 10 64 bit and vice versa

1- From the taskbar, search for Create a recovery drive and then select it. You might be asked to enter an admin password or confirm your choice.


2- When the tool opens, make sure Back up system files to the recovery drive is selected and then select Next.


3- Connect a USB drive to your PC, select it, and then select Next > Create. A lot of files need to be copied to the recovery drive, so this might take a while.

Make sure that you are connecting a USB disk with large size depend on your backup size

4- When it’s done, you might see a Delete the recovery partition from your PC link on the final screen. If you want to free up drive space on your PC, select the link and then select Delete. If not, select Finish.
